Approval for adoption does not necessarily mean you are approved for the animal of your choice.  We try to match each animal with it new owners based on a number of criteria (behavior, activity level, temperament, etc.)  The Refuge Madawaska Shelter Inc. reserves the right to refuse any application if it feels it is not in the dog’s best interest.

Understand that falsified answers will lead to automatic refusal of this application! Your application will be processed 24-48 hours after we receive it.

All animals being adopted must be transported home in a safe manner. All dogs must have a proper fitting collar and be on a leash.

Be aware that the conditions above should be discussed and thought about before adopting an animal. The personality and health of the animal are aspects that we have little control over. Plan and put some savings away to care for your new companion. Is it the right time in your life to adopt a dog? Do you have time to care and play with him? Are there changes coming in your life soon? It is important to give time to the new member of your family to make himself a home in your house and to give time to the animal(s) living there to adjust to the new member. It can take as much as 3 months before the group gets at ease with each other.
